My Father's Birthday

There are four people in my family’s member who has a birthday in January. They are my hubby, my eldest brother, me and my father. Today is my father’s birthday. He’s 73 years old now. Yes, he’s old but he still has a good memory, good hearing and still able to drive my mother to and from her friend’s house. He always wakes up early in the morning and walks to the mosque to do his morning prayer while many other people still sleeping.

He’s tough and has a strong faith. I always come to him everytime I have a problem. It seems that he can overcome everything. And sometimes just talking with him has made me relieve and the problem’s gone. He said to me once that every problem has a solution. We just have to find a way out, be patient, keeps praying and insya Allah with God’s help everything will be okay.

God how I love, respect and admire him. To me, he is the best father in the world.

Happy birthday papa, may Allah bless you forever. I miss you so much and I hope we will meet again someday.

Norskkurs

Early this month I started my Norwegian course. I go to my norskkurs twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday from 17.30 til 20.15. I take the evening class because I must look after my two little daughters in day time. Morning class is free of charge but even though I have to pay for my evening class, I feel glad because in this class most of the students are employees. They are mature and professional so it is more things to talk about. Some of them are funny also. For example, when the teacher asked us to write about what do you like to do in free time, one said, “Jeg liker å danse på bordet”. It means I like to dance on the table. Isn’t it funny? Or when the teacher asked what did you do this weekend, one said, “Bare slappe av”, meanings just relax. The whole weekend? Gee.

Anyway, the main reason I take this course because I want to have a job. Before married I used to work. So sometimes I feel kind of missing working in an office. But I can not have a job if I can’t speak norsk. Besides it is good if I can speak norsk well. Not only I will be able to understand the program on TV, can read newspaper, magazine, books, etc. but also it shows appreciation to the country where I live.

My Birthday

He remembered! My husband remembered my birthday. Happy ? Definitely. Funny is he was so afraid that he won’t remember it so he bought a present few days before and gave it to me and said that I should open it on my birthday. But then he became impatient and kept asking me to open it. Hi hi hi … lucu ya. My parents in law also gave me a present and a nice card. They’re very kind to me and never forget my birthday.

For some people holding a big party with hundreds of guests and having many presents on their birthday is an important thing. The more expensive the present they get the happier they are. But to me the attention is all that matter. I don’t need a big party or expensive gifts. Just a simple word like congratulation or gratulerer med dagen has made me happy. It is the thought that count.

Since nobody sings a happy birthday song for me so I will sing it for myself.

“Happy birthday to you
You were born in the zoo
With the lion and the tiger and the monkey like you”

Ha ha .. just kidding.

“Happy birthday to me 2x
Happy birthday dear Tanty
Happy birthday to me"

My Husband's Birthday

Yesterday my husband had his birthday. Actually we wanted to celebrate it at least invited my parents in law but unfortunately we couldn’t do it because I just starting my norsk course again so I had no time to cook or preparing things for a little party. However after coming home from the course I did try to make a chocolate cake but it was terrible. I took the cake out of the pan when it was still too hot so it broken. Well, my husband said, don’t worry with the form. The most important is the taste. So, it reminds me of the comment given by my friend to my other friend about his affair with an ugly woman. He said, “The face may ugly like satan but tasty like sticky rice.” Muka boleh kayak setan tapi rasa kayak ketan. Oops sorry, I think I’m out of the context now.

Back to my husband’s birthday. Last year I didn’t give him a present coz we’re not together. I mean I was in Bandung visited my family at that time but I did congratulate him. So this time I gave him a nice wooden box complete with the measurement tool to keep the moisture inside the box is correct. He likes cigar very much so with this box he can put all of his cigars in one place and need not to worry anymore about the cigars getting dry. He’s very happy with that box and it makes me happy as well to see him happy.

Well, happy birthday my dear husband. More years much more wiser.

She

few questions
unsatisfied answers
people said curiousity and honesty can hurt you
she feels hurt now
she thought it’s over
wondering will things happened in the past ever happen again?
should she start to worry?
or just relax and hope
that nothing’s bad will happen
that everything will be okay
